Ref: 2001 The Stone House
THORNTON-LE-DALE Pickering 2 miles; Scarborough 16 miles; York 25 miles. The beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale lies just two miles to the east of Pickering within The North York Moors National Park. Much of its charm comes from its complicated shape - a fascinating jumble of streams and paths and pretty houses with an attractive village green which still has its wooden stocks and a market cross. The village offers a selection of shops, pubs and tearooms. The nearby market town of Pickering offers a good range of amenities and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. There are broad fields above and below the village and views to the south across the Vale of Pickering, whilst to the north is the Forestry Commission's Dalby Forest, with several excellent nature trails to be enjoyed. Further afield, but within driving distance, are the East Coast and The City of York. The Property: The Stone House A lovely, stone built, end-terrace cottage, situated in the centre of the pretty village of Thornton-le-Dale, 2 miles from Pickering. Decorated and furnished with taste and flair, this delightful property is spacious and comfortable, and retains original character features such as the Victorian fireplace in the dining area and dual aspect windows in the sitting room, boasting views of the village. The property is ideally placed for sampling the village's various tearooms, restaurants and inns, or for taking a leisurely stroll alongside the stream that runs through the village. The bustling market towns of Pickering and Malton are just a short drive away, offering attractions such as Pickering Castle, the Steam Railway and a range of museums, whilst excellent trout fishing is available nearby.
